Gen Art and Plastics Make it Possible Design Competition

Thanks to Plastics Makes it Possible we were able to attend this seasons Gen Art Fresh Faces in Fashion!

The night started out showcasing some of L.A's up and coming accessories designers, proceeded with an amazing fashion show and ended with a great after party and the launch of plastics make it possible nationwide design competition. This competition challenges each designer to create two womenswear looks made only out of plastic, recycled plastic, and/or plastic-based materials. All designers will be judged on the Genart website. So remember to vote for your favorite designer. Check out: www.discover.genart.org.
The winner of the contest will receive a $10,000 prize and a runway show at Gen Art’s Fresh Faces event at Winter 2010 New York Fashion Week. All interested designers can submit their creations on www.discover.genart.org. All entries must be submitted by December 1 and public voting runs through December 15. The winner will be notified on December 21.-Plastics Make it Possible

Fresh Faces Review

Leyendecker started out the show with a very whimsical feel. Some of my favorite pieces included a nude toned jumper and a sheer jumpsuit. Graphic prints and a nude color palette made the collection pop. Seneca Rising had some great pieces that were more than basic. Jumpers, mini skirts and voluminous tops were instant stand outs and were a great update to modern sportswear which is what the designer is known for. Rory Beca had some great feminine pieces. One of my favorite pieces was this sequin dress shown above. I think that her pieces are perfect for the evening and her color palette with light pinks gave it a great soft touch. Valerj Pobega kicked it up with some painted silk creations. One of my favorites was a black and white silk tunic!! I would totally wear this over some leather leggings and platforms. MG black by Eric Hart had some great menswear pieces. I loved the rolled pants, super chic button up shirts and structured jackets. To see more images from the show please check out apparelnews.net. They have all the images from L.A fashion week posted on their site.
